The early 90’s spawned a whole generation of small, Japanese personal coupés with revvy little engines, gorgeous sloping designs and ‘four seats’ but really two seats.
Mazdas contribution to the market in 1991 was the MX3, a small but perfectly formed little coupe available with a 1.5, 1.6 and the infamously cool 1.8 V6, the smalllest capacity V6 ever fitted to a vehicle.
This example is exactly that, a Mazda MX3 V6, registered 30th December 1992 and showing just under 86,000 miles.
Outside you’ve got spoilers front and rear, side skirts, fog lights and alloy wheels (finished in that strange, almost wrought iron finish these came with).
Inside it’s all very low and sporty, fabric front seats, leather bolsters in the back (a quirk of the MX3), it will have a 90s inspired Bluetooth MP3 added very soon, electric windows, mirrors and sunroof and a very snappy five-speed manual.
The little V6 is glorious, revvy, angry and definitely quick enough to be a lot of fun, and the five speed manual is beautifully precise.
The car will also come with 12 months MOT for the winner.
As fun little 90’s coupés go, the MX3 V6 is a joyous little ball of fun, a fantastic b-road blast and still with enough room in the back for a weekly shop and the kids, as long as they’re short.
