Think of this as the thinking man’s Mondeo Estate, all the practicality of a typical 90’s estate car but with so much more mixed in.
By the mid 90’s Subaru was already a rally powerhouse and pre-Impreza, the Legacy had held the mantle for Subaru. That rallying heritage made its way into even the most mundane of Subarus line up, and all you need to do is put your foot down to hear that 2.0 flat-4 rumble and suddenly you’re on the 1000 Lakes hitting a 4-left with Nicky Grist beside you.
The particular car is a 95 2.0 GLS Estate 4WD, which obviously has acres of space but also comes with a fair bit of kit too, full electric windows and mirrors, high and low range 4WD and radio/cassette.
Inside it’s immaculate, the seats, door cards, dash, headliner and carpets are all in incredible condition and all electrics work as they should.
Outside the metallic pale green/grey paintwork is in good overall condition with a bit of fading here and there but nothing which spoils the overall look of the car too much. Plus it’s original plastic wheels trims are all present.
The 2.0 4 cylinder boxer pulls nicely and sounds bloody glorious, the 5-speed manual is tight and precise and the high/low 4WD still works as it should.
This is a rare vehicle, with only a handful left on the road and this one is a stunner, never welded, well cared for and with only 91k on the clock, a fairly low mileage example of a car more often than not abused on farms and left to rot.
