As small, old school French vans go, the Berlingo 1.9 non-turbo diesel is a fine and reliable choice.
The Berlingo was launched in the UK in 1996 on a ‘P’ registration, with this particular van being registered around a year later in November 1997.
This early Berlingo is sporting 96.5k miles, not a great deal at all for a hardy commercial diesel van and is wrapped up in ‘Amazon Green’ which is in very good overall shape. The van still has its Citroen branded mudflaps up front, roof rack up top and most unusually, twin rear wipers.
Inside it’s in very presentable shape for a commercial vehicle, the seats and door-cards are in good shape, its original cassette player is still present but inoperable and has been replaced with a Bluetooth MP3 player above. It also has electric windows which is another unusual option.
The rear has been fully ply lined and has a removable liner keeping the workspace in fantastic shape.
The 1.9 diesel is definitely not going to be winning any races but it gets along well enough and the 5-speed box is in good order too.
As a modern classic commercial vehicle or a starting point for a mobile business, this Berlingo is a great little thing.
