It’s 1999 and you’re after a useable, cost effective 5dr hatchback with enough power to get you along nicely and which also looks a bit fancy on the driveway. There’s little question, you’re buying a Fiesta Zetec and so you should.
With the buzzy Yamaha engineered 1.25 Zetec up front and an exceptional chassis setup, what you got from this generation of Fiesta was a 5dr go-kart with precise handling, and arguably the best engine in its class.
This example is a 1999 Zetec 1.25 in Pacific Green, a 5dr example in LX spec originally supplied by Arnold Clark with alloys and front fogs.
Inside you’ve got matching green upholstery in great condition, a silver centre console with a Radio/Cassette but, not much else. This example was specced pretty low from the factory, kesp-fit windows all round, manual mirrors, no air-conditioning or air-recirculation and no heated screen. But, the optimist in you would say, less to go wrong.
This cars party piece is the mileage, only 33k miles travelled from new meaning an average of 1,200 per year!
Dozens of people will have fond memories of this generation of Fiesta, first car, mums car, nans car, these things were everywhere making parts plentiful and cheap too.
As a cheap retro runabout, these little hatchbacks are a very tough act to beat!
