By the year 2000 the C-class W202 had been on sale in the UK for 6 years and was in need of a replacement, the W203 would land the same year. But the classic lines of the outgoing W202 still made this car a cracking buy.

This particular example is a beautifully specced C240 in ‘Sport’ spec on a late 2000 ‘W’ plate and showing only 61k miles since new, averaging only 2,300 miles a year.

Outside the unusual but stunning Aquamarine Metallic is in great shape and the ‘Sport’ spec body kit sits beautifully setting off the AMG monoblock wheels. 

Inside you get acres of pale grey leather, carbon fibre effect interior trim, full electric windows and mirrors, plus air conditioning and cruise control. And yes, it’s got the button on the dash to drop the rear headrests too. 

That almighty rumbling V6 is a glorious unit and runs exceptionally, the automatic gearbox, whilst typically a bit lazy, is a great cruising combo with that big gutsy V6 up front. 

As investment modern classics go, the C240 V6 is not only a very safe bet but also an incredibly useable car, 5 doors, good sized boot and easily quick enough to have a bit of fun with.
