When Renault introduced the Laguna to finally replace the prehistoric 21, they took a big swing, a car which was futuristic and not afraid to show it, elegant scoops and curves replacing harsh right angles and a huge investment in the latest technology. And boy it paid off.
The Laguna offered a broad range, from a humdrum 1.6 petrol to the 1.9DCi diesel in both hatch and estate guises, but at the top of the tree was this, the 3.0 V6 in Monaco spec, the biggest engine, the nicest wheels and every option box ticked.
This particular car is a late year 2000 car, toward the tail end of the Mk1 Lagunas run. Showing 80,500 miles it’s only averaged around 3,100 miles per year since new.
The big, wafty 3.0 V6 is decidedly smooth and effortless, not raucous, just big for the sake of being big. The autobox has recently been replaced then fully serviced and shifts beautifully.
Outside, metallic green is the order of the day, sporting its original 16 inch alloy wheels in excellent condition, front fogs, rear spoiler, sunroof and it’s all important ‘Monaco’ badging.
Inside is where this high spec model shows itself off, grey leather throughout, electric seats, ice cold air conditioning, full electric windows, mirrors and sunroof, voice synthesiser alerts, cruise control, automatic climate control, CD Changer and a factory SatNav. All in all, it’s jammed packed with as much kit as they could shoehorn in here!
The Mk1 Laguna makes for a wafty motorway mile muncher is almost any guise, but this is the ultimate version of a beautifully designed piece of thirsty French motoring. A great car for a 90’s Renault enthusiast or something looking for a luxury automatic cruiser to enjoy.
Tickets will launch on June 30th and the LIVE draw will be on Sunday 2nd August 2026 at 8:30pm
