By 1994 the Polo Mk2 had been on the market for 13 years and was in dire need of a replacement. That replacement came in the form of the 6N, a rounded, cheerful Polo fit for the 90’s!
The 6N shared its platform with the Mk2 Seat Ibiza and VW sold over 200,000 of the things from 1994 to 2001 with a hefty facelift in its later years in the form of the 6N2.
This example is a very very late, pre-facelift 6N on a 2000 W plate, the crossover year for the 6N2 and is likely one of the last 6Ns produced, being registered on 17th May 2000.
As with most crossover cars vehicles, VW threw the options booklet at even the most mundane examples to get them off the forecourt, meaning this little 1.0 Petrol comes with electric windows, electrics mirrors and air conditioning, which is bizarre for such a low spec car.
W884VBO sports a brand new full respray in its factory ‘Pistachio’ including the original silver steel wheels.
Inside the Polo is a perfect example of a small 90’s car, colourful fabric seats, lots of black and grey ‘leather effect’ plastic and it’s only upgrade is a 90’s cassette replica Bluetooth MP3 which is convincing enough that it looks like it’s always been there.
The 1.0 petrol is breathtakingly underpowered, sporting 49 of Germany’s finest horses, lulling you to 60mph in a glacial 18.5 seconds, with a top speed of 90mph, downhill, with a considerable tailwind. That is to say, the Polo 1.0 is for getting the groceries, nothing more, nothing less.
As a starter classic, especially for a young person, this Polo is absolutely ideal, super cheap to run, parts are still easy to find, cheap to tax and insure and easy to drive and park.
Tickets will launch on May 23rd and the LIVE draw will be on Sunday 28th June 2026 at 8:30pm
